Hello dears!
I will show you today my favorite observation tower discovered in the Baltics. It is situated in Lithuania, the first country we visited in that summer.
I did my research and this tower was in top of my list – a must!
The observation tower is situated in the Biržai Regional Park. What is special about this tower is the location but the shape as well. Firstly, I taught that the moon shape is creating such a mystical atmosphere in this stunning park. But actually the shape of the construction is inspired by a sinking boat which is surely great built. The height of the tower is 32 m from where you can admire lots and lots of small lakes. The lakes are actually water filled basins which are formed during karstic processes. The lakes are very small only 20-30 meters in diameter but the depth is reaching even 11 meters. They are all interconnected which gives to it an impressive structure.
Exploring the park during rain on the wooden paths was a calming experience, it’s that nature was sharing just peace, the sound of rain, the birds were chirping from time to time, the drops were falling on the leaves and the water surface of lakes. I felt such a nice connection with nature and its simplicity.
Maybe you know already but there are a lot of rainy days there and in three weeks spent in the Baltics we had maybe 5 sunny days in June-July. So the day we visited the Biržai Regional Park was raining and raining and raining but the nature is beautiful with rain. I love the colours that nature has during and after rain; they are so vibrant and fresh. I have to say that in the Baltics I learned that there is no bad weather, only bad clothes!
The regional Park Biržai was part of the project “Latvia-Lithuanis Cross Border Cooperation Programme 2007-2013 Ežerai ateičiai” realized with European Founds. The park has many wooden paths, small bridges, sitting elements and a small playground. Everywhere around the park you can find informational panels.
The park is easy to reach by car-there is a big parking place, but on the other hand I don’t think there is any public transportation arriving. The opening hours are 24/7 and there is no entrance fee.
Enjoy!
Lovingly,
Loredana
